Go behind the scenes with the DDC and the harrowing account of making our first book. From the contracts to the scheming, from the pagination to the design, from the tears to the nightmares…let us tell you what it’s like to cram your whole half-wit career into 256 pages, and live to tell the story about it. We’ll pack in stories from the run-up, release, and surreal fallout, as well as updates to other tricky ventures we’ve been up to. The entire presentation is dipped in Pantone Orange 021!

Government relations is always at the forefront of AAF. If any advertising-related legislative issues arise, we will be there to fight for our members and the industry as a whole. With this, it is important to be registered to vote to help us if the time comes. Because of this and the upcoming election, we are hosting a voter registration drive on September 27, the National Voter Registration Day.
Along with a drive, we will be showing Selma: The Bridge to the Ballot to show the power of the vote and encourage everyone to cast their ballots this November.

Come learn about what AAF Montgomery has to offer and discover why we were voted Club of the Year last year! We will be there to talk with you about the benefits of membership, committee opportunities, upcoming events and more. If you are a returning member, stop by to see what is new for this next year. Our board will be there to talk about getting involved with our community service initiatives, our student education program, our club programs, and the American Advertising Awards.
The kickoff party is a great time to either become a member or renew your membership. Anyone who submits the application and payment by August 2 received twice the Member of the Year (MOTY) points (200 points). And, as a member, you will be entered into our door prize drawing.
Admission to the event is free — please RSVP by July 29. We will be hosting a supply drive for Montgomery Humane Society. If you bring items, you will receive extra MOTY points! A list of current needs is available here. A MHS representative will be on hand to answer any questions.

Formerly known as Portfolio Day, AAF Montgomery’s Student Conference is bigger and better than ever! The Student Conference is a two-day conference where students can learn about the field of advertising, discover what trends are developing in the industry and get a jumpstart on their career by networking with knowledgeable advertising professionals and recruiters.

AAF Montgomery is participating in the Walk of Life this year! We formed this team to raise money to help more women survive breast cancer. In Alabama alone, 3,680 women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
These women desperately need our help to detect and treat breast cancer EARLY, so they’ll be more likely to survive it.
The event raises money to provide free mammograms to women who cannot afford them. Over 11,000 free mammograms have been provided since 2001!
We invite you to join our team in walking If you can’t join us, please consider supporting our team by donating today. Every $100 we raise can provide a mammogram and whatever amount you can donate will help!

Creative Boot Camp author Stefan Mumaw will elaborate on the key characteristics of daily creative output, identifying the obstacles to effective creative training and breaking down ideation into digestible steps, all the while using short, in-their-seats creative exercises to illuminate key points about behavior, experience and perspective. You will see, once and for all, that you are able to generate ideas in greater quantity and quality. The session is lively and fun, with Stefan’s trademark humor and wit on display. Creative Boot Camp will give everyone all of the speed of its military counterpart with none of the chow time remorse.

Come and take a peek behind the curtain of two unique journeys that bring so much old world paper-making and printing to the national design community, French Paper Company and Mama’s Sauce. The first 75 people to come out will leave with a free limited edition screen printed poster commemorating the event designed by local designer, Cody Eason. Attendees will also have the chance to letterpress their very own certificates of authenticity.

Print Matters is a speaking event comprised of tales from Brian French, 6th Generation French Paper Company, and Nick Sambrato, Mama’s Sauce Founder, about their respective companies combined 150 years (143 of those from French alone) of producing paper and printing in an ever modernizing world. Both companies are not just manufacturers, each has become a part of the design community. By putting their product quality first, their brands have attracted and hence been built by the designers who use their services everyday.
Oh, did we forget to mention FREE Beer/Wine with entry? And our very own local maker, Cotton & Pine, will have live printing demos on site.
Southern Makers brings together Southern creativity and innovation all under one roof for people to explore. The two-day event celebrates Southern creativity and innovation by bringing together highly curated, handpicked talent – artists, chefs, breweries, craftsmen, musicians, designers, authors – for one fantastic gathering. Here you can explore the contemporary side of Alabama’s heritage of craftsmanship, textiles, music, and food, meeting the top talent working throughout the Southeast today. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit E.A.T. South, a Montgomery non-profit focused on children’s education and healthy food production.
